LEGACIES OF f DR . JOHN KINGSLEY KRUGU SINCE 2001

➖➖➖➖➖➖
As a student who continues to pursue academic excellence, I thought  obtaining a PhD would be the most happiest & greatest achievement of my life until I met Dr John Kingsley Krugu  who holds a PhD in Public Health.
He said this to me: "I was born into a poor home & I have seen poverty,  I have travelled this world & I have worked in three continents(Africa, Asia & Europe). I don't feel happy nor think I have achieved something  until I'm able to use my education to make a significant contribution to the society & cause a DENT; there I will be happy. " 😊

Throughout his life, at any point he encounters a need of the society, he initiates something to solve it. See his major interventions since 2001.

1. EXCELLENCE REMEDIAL SCHOOL, 2001. During his national service, he saw the rate at which students failed the May/June WASSCE exam & decided to establish the Excellence Remedial School to help prepare students for Nov/Dec exams to better their results in order to further their education.

2. In 2002, he recounted how he struggled to stay in school and how his parents forced his teenage sister into marriage in order to get a cow and sell for his education and the prevalence of the early marriage & teenage pregnancy in the Upper East region and established YOUTH HARVEST FOUNDATION Ghana, 2002. ( He Vision was to Harvest the Youth & give them a Foundation )

3. APONDABOGO JHS in 2007 : As a child, he used to walk several miles from his village-Apondabogo to Kusanaba Middle School, hence he built a Junior High School for his people to lesson the stress of travelling several miles to be educated.

4. DESIGNED HEALTH CONSULT in 2012: After his masters degree in Public Health & upon enrolling into a PhD program in Public Health, he established the Design Health Consult to intervene in Health policies & needs in Ghana, some countries in Africa & Asia.

5. BUTT-TIS BUURI SCHOLARSHIP FUND, 2022 : During the Tertiary Students Project Capacity Building Seminars, he interacted with a lot of Tertiary students from the Bawku West District and saw how they were struggling to pay school fees & other educational expenses. He recounted the struggles of his days in the university and decided to establish the BUTT-TIS BUURI SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

6. SOLAR PLANT, 2023. : He read and saw how the world is shifting from fossil energy to sustainable, environmentally friendly energy. He knew how the intensity of the Sun 🌞 in the North could be used to generate electricity and brought the Solar Plant Project to the Bawku West District.

Last year, on his  birthday, a scholarship fund was born. A year on, he is happy to announce the call for applications for the 2023/2024 academic year. Check the first comment on how you can celebrate with him by donating into the Scholarship Fund.
All donations will be publicly acknowledged.

Thank you.
